How did the compass and astrolabe help make exploration easier

The astrolabe allowed navigators to calculate their location based on the position of the sun and starts in relation to the horizon. The compass allowed sailors to know which direction they were sailing.

It show the direction west and north and south include east . I think it around china age they create compass which show direction which of easy to get with travel.
